Overview

The Getaway in St. Petersburg opened in January 2014 and has really grown since then. One large tiki hut houses the main bar and a few tables and a smaller tiki bar near the water has additional seating. In the sand between both tiki huts are several tables that add to the laid-back atmosphere.

Overlooking the water, this bar has 30 boat slips, which makes this a perfect spot if you are out boating on Old Tampa Bay. The Getaway has a very unique kitchen that produces some pretty yummy food. The kitchen is located in two converted shipping containers on the left side of the property! Be sure to keep an eye out for it - recycling at its best!

They have an extensive menu of both food and drinks. Their menus is comprised of a mix of Caribbean and Florida cuisine, or as they like to say, "Floribbean!"

This place is great, and with so few waterfront bars actually on the water in Tampa Bay, you gotta check it out. I like the daytime vibe, very laid back and calm with world reggae playing on a great sounding outdoor sound system. It’s easy to miss, but it’s the very first sign of civilization on the south side of Gandy when you come over from Tampa. Park by the mangroves and walk in past the Air Stream trailer/surfer cabana.
