Overview
Nokomos Sunset Hut is a two-story bar on Dona Bay in Nokomis. We were on our way to a different destination when we noticed lights shining on the bay at night as we drove past it- we knew we needed to make it a stop the next day.
We were really glad we got there early as the parking lot is somewhat small, so be prepared. We arrived mid-day and walked up to the upper deck. There really isn't a bad seat on either level of this completely open-air bar. No matter where you sit, you have a great view of the docks and the bay.
Nokomos Sunset Hut offers live music late-afternoons on Thursday through Sunday. We tried several different drinks and menu items and they were all delicious. Our favorite drink was the grapefruit basil martini and it's worth noting that the juices were fresh squeezed in this drink as are many more on the menu including the margarita. It is incredibly hard to find fresh-squeezed juices in drinks these days and it was a pleasant surprise to have such an assortment that weren't made with a mix! A good cocktail menu and craft brews are pretty much all we need!
The staff was incredibly friendly and overall, it had a great vibe. Now we just need to stop by again during a sunset and have the true Nokomos Sunset Hut experience.
