Overview

Sitting right on the Peace River you will find The Nav-A-Gator. You go down the highway, up the byway and then turn into the swamp area. Okay, it's on Desoto Marina and it is kinda swampy, but it has repeatedly been voted the #1 Trop Rock Music Venue in the U.S.A. by the Trop Rock Music Association. So, Florida Beach Bar had to go check it out, didn't we?

The Nav-A-Gator is real, real Old Florida. You enter into the bar, and it appears to be filled with the locals who come every day to see what is going on with their friends. Walk through there, and you are on the outside patio area. There is a stage towards the river. There is an old washing machine by the stage. Go figure. Some of the best bands around play at The Nav-A-Gator on a regular basis.

We asked the waitress what the best appetizers on the menu were.....Gator and Conch Fritters. We went for the nachos which, were very good. They do serve gator, and it is up to you to savor the flavor.

The wait staff at this Florida beach bar is amazing. There was a large crowd there the last time we were there and all the waitresses were greeting people by name. Jim Morris was the entertainment on this beautiful day and the Nav-A-Gator was packed. It was a wonderful day. Jim Morris makes frequent visits to perform at this Florida beach bar.

The Nav-A-Gator is not your typical Florida beach bar, but it has won #1 Trop Rock Venue in the U.S.A consistently. We just can't ignore something like that. All the top trop rock bands play at the Nav-A-Gator. This draws in massive crowds of people looking for a good time.

And guess what? You can even get to The Nav-A-Gator by seaplane or helicopter.. Latitude 27° 03’ 42" North and Longitude 82° 00’ 10" West. The Peace River is 4’ to 8’ deep in this area; seaplane dock is at the end of the property facing the Peace River. Helicopter landing zone is at the end of the property. (Look for Windsock).

They say "Where the road ends, the adventure begins". Off the beaten path for a Florida beach bar, but it is on the water with great music. We consider great music a real plus. This is not what we typically would call a Florida Beach Bar, but it is on the river and the entertainment here merits the 4 Flamingo rating from Florida Beach Bar.

Nav-A-Gator has events as well as great entertainment. You are often asked to bring a can of food for the less fortunate .Sometimes you are asked to bring school supplies or when Jim Morris plays he and his wife ask that you print a new pair of shoes or non-perishable food item. When Jim sings his "Twenty Dollar Bills" song, the people in the audience throw $20 bills. These bills are collected and used to buy shoes for local school children.
