Everyone knows it as Snapper's, but the tiki bar portion of this restaurant is known as The Turtle Club. Are you a turtle? Eat at Snapper's Restaurant if you want a full menu. It is wonderful. Or wander across the dock to The Turtle Club. The menu at the Turtle Club is limited but, you will find something delicious and unique on this menu. Try the Shrimp Fritters. Turtles is where the bands play and the people let loose. Located at Mile Marker 94.5, Snappers has the
food, atmosphere, and entertainment to make it a Top 10 Florida Beach Bar for 2011.
Snapper's is located on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Keys with plenty of boat dockage. Snapper's opened in 1989 and has been a local favorite ever since. There are rumors about the history of the building that in which Snapper's is located. Although, some of these things happened prior to 1989, of course. Nothing like a great Florida beach bar with some interesting history. It all adds to its unique character.
Have you met Howard Kolbenheyer, the owner of Snappers? Howard is a transplant from the Hamptons in New York. He has adapted well to the lifestyle in the Keys. Oh, and did you know, Snappers can cater a wedding too and the wedding party can stay at the Dove Creek Hotel located next door.
Also, adding to The Turtle Club's character are the bar stools which are old white captain's chairs from boats. They are comfy, and they recline just a tad. The band's stage is designed to look like an old fishing cabin with its own dock. The band plays on the dock of the cabin. This Florida beach bar has a lot of charm.
Every Thursday night you can catch Howard and Michael doing a live radio broadcast on the Turtle Club stage. Then the live music begins.
Dwayne McGregor was playing the night Snappers was awarded their Top 10 Best Florida Beach Bar award. He is terrific. Dwayne plays there often so check him out.

Snapper's first opened it’s doors overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Key Largo in May of 1989. It’s unique old Florida atmosphere and Caribbean style seafood immediately helped it gain notoriety throughout the Florida Keys and beyond.
The view from the Tiki bar, restaurant, or deck overlooking the marina speaks for itself. The building has survived hurricanes, floods, and pillaging by pirates and it’s rumored that the upstairs was once a house of ill repute. All the history, plus the unique coral architecture have helped to develop its character.
